Soy is not a healthy alternative as it is a pro-inflammatory and a common allergen. The actual soybean, miso and tempeh are safe to consume in moderation. Limit your consumption of the byproducts created from soy such as soybean oil, msg, xanthan gum all other gums and soy protein isolates just to name a few (see more names for soy here). When heated to cooking temperatures, soy can contribute to inflammation of the brain. Inflammation is a precursor to cancer and other degenerative diseases.
If you are adding soy to your diet, make sure you don’t heat it too much. For more information on the allergen soy click here.
TIP: A great alternative to soy sauce is coconut aminos.
